Archer climbing the 'pole' in our bathroom - what, you don't have a pole in your bathroom? :) You can't really tell, but he's almost half way up... and he has made it to the top (ceiling) before...
You're thinking "Is she really a proud momma or is this one of those sarcastic proud momma moments". Especially since it involves my odd little 'sneaky' child...
Tonight we went to Jeremiah's parents house. All the adults were upstairs visiting (and we are a LOUD bunch) and watching the Pro Bowl while DarTanion and Draysen were running up and down the hall laughing and screaming at each other. Robyn is passed out on the couch. Archer (we thought) was in Dray's old room. We asked DarTanion to check on him and he said that Archer wasn't there. So Jeremiah went downstairs to check on Archer (thinking he was in the freezer stealing his probably 4th ice cream for the night). Jeremiah looks all over and doesn't see him. Jeremiah heard a noise in Jeremiah's parents bathroom so he went in to stop Archer from playing with WHATEVER he was into this time. (Has he done something like this before? YES.) Anyway...
Jeremiah sees Archer standing on a laundry basket trying to climb out of the open bathroom window (and ready to succeed at it, I might add). Jeremiah asks Archer what he was doing and sees that he was red in the face and upset. He gave Jeremiah a big smile saying "DAD!" and gives him a hug. Archer then explains that he was locked in the bathroom and he couldn't get out and he tried to yell but no one came down to rescue him so he was trying to get out of the bathroom. (Their lever type door knob is tricky - you have to pull it up to open it instead of push it down.)
Archer had dumped the laundry out of the basket, took it over to the window, climbed on top of it, opened the window (and it is a heavy, hard to open window) and had pushed on the screen until it bent. He was in the process of trying to crawl up into the window to hop out when Jeremiah saw him. Archer had no socks or shoes on and had probably just went into the bathroom to go pee and ended up stuck and upset. But did he let that get the best of him? Nope. :) My little guy thought 'Hmmm.... How do I get out of here?'
I gave him lots of hugs and loves and assured him that he wasn't in trouble and that I was happy that he was so smart to try and 'escape' when he was locked in the bathroom. And really, I am. He's so smart and such a good problem solver. He's a mechanical minded kid - he likes to know how and why things work. So this is one of those situations that shows his strength. :)
I love my little guy (well, all of my kids, really but this post is about my Moe). He's certainly a handful. He will sneak outside or into the kitchen at any hour of the day or night. He refuses to sit in his seat in Primary (he prefers under the table, under the chairs, or standing on the chairs in the back of the Primary room). He will do things just to get a reaction.
Reminding us that life is good.
